Maggie Chang, President

Maggie was elected as President of SERV after her term as Head of Legislation and a year with the Environmental Justice team. She will be graduating with a B.A. in Foreign Affairs with a minor in Public Writing and Rhetoric in 2026 and the Accelerated Master of Public Policy from the Batten School in 2027. She interned with the Center for Politics last summer with their Global Initiatives Department and has explored a diversity of campaign experiences across Virginia. In policy, she works mostly with environmental, healthcare, and education issues, but is interested in cooking, outdoor activity, travel, and music in her personal time.

Eli Weinger, Vice President

Eli was elected Vice-President after completing his term as President and, before that, serving as Head of Legislation. In 2025, Eli graduated the University with a B.A. in Politics, focusing on American government, and will continue to study at the University this academic year in pursuit of a Masters of Public Policy. In addition to his work with SERV, Eli enjoys engaging with the Charlottesville community through his work with Virginia Organizing. In his free time, Eli likes to read, spend time with friends, and explore the coffeeshops and bookstores of Charlottesville.

Galen Baird, Head of Communications

Galen Baird is a third year student studying Biochemistry and Computer Science. He joined SERV his first year as a member of the Gun Reform Team, with interests in Gun Reform, Healthcare, and Education Policy. As the Head of Communications, he hopes to increase the external reach of SERV through novel uses of technology, while also providing SERV’s members with new ways to stay informed. Outside of SERV, he serves as a Governance Board member of Brown Residential College at UVA, a researcher in the Pathology department of UVA Medicine, a biannual marathon runner, and a mattress for his two cats.
