2026-2027 Team Leads
Education - Charlotte
The Education team, led by Charlotte James, works on legislation related to education curriculum reform and creating an education system that represents everyone.
Charlotte is a second-year studying Youth and Social Innovation and intending to Master in Public Policy. She was previously a member of the Environmental Justice team prior to being selected as this year’s Education Reform Team Lead. Her area of interest is early education policy and hopes to make Virginia public schools more equitable and well-funded. Outside of SERV, she is involved with the Queer Student Union and Cosplay Club. Additionally, she loves to cook and go on adventures with friends.
Environmental Justice - Keira
The Environmental Justice team, led by Keira Webb, works on legislation related to green energy initiatives, conservation, housing codes, and emissions reforms.
Keira is a third-year studying Public Policy and Leadership as well as Government. She was previously a member of the Education team prior to being selected as this year’s Environmental Justice Team Lead. She is passionate about understanding how policy is developed and communicated to create a more equitable and democratic society. Outside of SERV, she is involved with the Blueprint Leadership Institute, Phi Alpha Delta, and loves to run as well as hang out with friends.
Criminal Justice - Abby
The Criminal Justice team, led by Abby Johnson, works on legislation related to improving criminal justice system and working toward policing reform.
Abby Johnson is a second-year studying Foreign Affairs in the Politics department on the pre-law track. She previously served on the Education team of SERV prior to being selected as Criminal Justice Team Lead, and specifically loves aspects of policy work related to social justice and criminal justice system reform. Outside of SERV, she is involved in the Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, International Justice Mission, and Reformed University Fellowship. In her free time, Abby loves to go on walks or runs around Charlottesville, read, play pickleball, or hang out with her friends.
Healthcare - Carly
The Healthcare team, led by Carly Robinson, works on legislation related to equal access in healthcare and reproductive rights.
Carly Robinson is a second-year studying Chemistry and Economics with a concentration in Public Policy. She previously served as a member of the Environmental Justice Team before being selected as Healthcare Reform Team Lead. She hopes to help make Virginia a more equitable and sustainable place. Outside of SERV, she is involved with the Extinction Club and the Cavalier Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, she has served as a Green Dorm Ambassador for the UVA Office of Sustainability. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hanging out with friends, and roller skating.
Gun Reform - Mihir
The Gun Reform team, led by Mihir Pokhriyal, works on encouraging legislation that gets guns off campuses and streets to stop gun violence before it happens.
Mihir Pokhriyal is a third-year studying Biology on a pre-med track. He joined SERV last year on the Economic justice team and fell in love with lobbying and learning more about modern politics. This year, he is excited to tackle continue working on legislation carried over from last year. Outside of SERV, he is a historical tour guide for the Virginia Guide Services, spreading UVA’s rich history towards the surrounding community. Finally, Mihir also loves to play tennis and FIFA in his free time.
Economic Justice - Alex
The Economic Justice team, led by Alexander Stephen, works on fighting for legislation to make Virginia more affordable and making jobs and government programs more equitable for citizens.
Alex is a second-year studying Math. He was previously a member of the Economic Justice Team before being selected as the Team Lead. This year, he hopes to advocate for legislation surrounding tenant’s rights, zoning reform, and economic development. Outside of SERV, he serves as a resident advisor, plays in the jazz ensemble, and loves to play pickleball.
Technology Reform - Sriharsha
The Technological Justice team, led by Sriharsha Sambaing, works on promoting legislation that addresses the new threat of artificial intelligence and ensures that new technology is used and distributed in a fair manner.
Sriharsha Sambangi is a third-year studying Neuroscience and Data Science. He was previously a member of Environmental Justice Team. As leader of the Technology Reform Team, Sri is interested in AI and data centers policy focusing on transparency and security. Outside of SERV, Sri is a part of the ballroom dance club at UVA.
